Principle:
Test specimens receive impact loads from a guided falling striker
with fixed mass and geometric profile, which is released from a
calibrated height and strikes the predefined positions distributed
on the specimen periphery.
The intensity level of this test procedure can be adjusted by
modifying the mass of the striker, the vertical drop height, or a
combination of both parameters. Adopting TIR thresholds outside the
values defined in the following sections to adjust test intensity
is regarded as technically non-standard and invalid.
The allowable upper limit for the TIR reading is specified as 10%.
